Ronald Todd Sanders Obituary - 2023 - Carter-Trent Funeral Home (2024)

Todd Sanders, age 56, of Kingsport, TN, following a lengthy illness was welcomed home into the arms of the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2023. He was a veteran of the United States Military having proudly served in the 3rd Infantry Division of the Army. He was a sought after auto mechanic and was so proud to have followed in his Grandaddy’s footsteps and become an ASE Chrysler master tech. Todd also became an ASE GM master tech. He held the record for completing the test the fastest it had ever been completed. Less than 100 people in the US held that certification at that time.

Todd and his loving wife, Paula, were high school sweethearts at Sullivan North High School. They would fall in love and marry on June 1st of 1984 and spent the next 38+ years together raising the family and making a lifetime of memories. Together they had 2 children Tasha and Aaron, and Todd was so proud of both of them. Todd built the house that he and his family lived in from the ground up. His wife and children helped him dig and pour footers and the foundation. Todd finished the house payday to payday and they moved in on plywood floors. He did electrical, flooring, painting, and decorating down to the last detail. He was an impressive interior decorator. If there was something he didn’t know he had to immediately look it up and learn everything about it that he could. He had a vocabulary almost as big as a dictionary. That is where Tasha got her inquisitive nature. He had the biggest sense of humor ever and was quite mischievous. Todd loved cars, music, and guns. If he was listening to 80’s rock so was the neighborhood. He loved to fish and blow stuff up with Aaron and they laughed so hard they couldn’t breathe when they were doing that.

Todd and his buddy and pet, Peyton, of 13 years had a very special bond. Peyton misses him so bad and had trained himself to alert Todd before a seizure. Wouldn’t you know Todd would pick a smart dog too? Todd and his family had attended and were members of Holy Mountain Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN, and most recently were members of Christ Fellowship Church in Kingsport. He was a born again Christian who loved his Lord and Savior.

Todd’s previously departed loved ones who were awaiting him are his parents, Ron and Carol Sanders; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Iona Sanders; and maternal grandparents, Joe and Ola Childers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Paula Sanders, of the home; daughter, Tasha Sanders; son, Aaron Frazier; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Sue Couch; special cousins, Gary and Joyce Johnson, and Mike Sanders; and all of his “Brothers in Arms” from the US Army.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Holy Mountain Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary with Pastor Tim Price officiating. A Military Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post #3/265 performing military honors. All those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 pm.
