I have been using BCSR since 2008. I shoot and coach shotgun disciplines. Over the years I have met with multiple 4H and FFA youth shooting groups who use this range for their practice/competition range. The staff is always helpful when you need them, otherwise they leave you alone. I highly recommend this range for to the novice or experienced shotgun shooter.

Great place to shoot, been a member now for almost 4 years,,, but do have one negative comment. My wife likes to go with me to shoot and just recently found out that she will be charged to go down to the range even when not shooting. Employee said they had to charge because some people were abusing this and would let non-paying people do some shooting. I love the range, but really don’t think a non-shooting spouse should have to pay; I have always paid if she shoots. Maybe they could change that and put a little trust in the members!

This is an outside site with several venues. They have skeet towers, a rifle range with various distances, 25 yds to 200 yds. They also have a pistol range. They provide targets, sandbags and ammo. Use this place at your own caution and be polite and you will have no difficulties if you follow the rules of the place.

Great place to shoot clays, sighting in the big bore, or working on your pistol grip and alignment.

There is always both great staff and shooters all to give pointers and advice from foot placement on the skeet range, to alignment on trap. To tested safe reloading advice.

Best prices for all reloading supplies too..

Go see Dave, alex, Jennifer, or Vernon….

All around best experience I have ever had in 30 years of shooting at a public access Range. Price, facilities and, staff were superb. Very friendly shooters, got some reloading advice from Leonard, great conversation with Steve and his two sons about kids in 4H/FFA shooting programs. I am in San Antonio for another 5 weeks, I will definitely be returning.

Just found this place on the internet and love it compared to the other choices in the greater San Antonio area. Good common sense approach to running a shooting range. Sundays can get a bit hectic with Numbers of shooters, but everyone cooperates with ‘Cease Fires’ and show patience for those of us who have to walk 200 yards to recover and place targets. Always a good experience and the price is right! Oh yeah, and I shouldn’t post this, Lots of Gun Powder and wide variety. I hope the hoarding fools stay away so those of us who actually use components and fire the shells we reload will have a source here. (note to hoarders: Y’all realize that chemical propellants actually do have a shelf life, right?)

Excellent place to shoot…. joined right before I turned 65… now have lifetime membership. Lack of ammo has decreased my attendance, but will be picking it up soon. Have to try out some new long guns and pistols. I go during the week and have found everyone very friendly; managers, employees, and shooters. Sometimes after shooting just hang around and watch others enjoying themselves,,, and pick up a few tips! If you have not tried this location, you definitely should. Thing that amazes me most, people who go there seem to know how to observe gun safety and shooting courteousy….Used to shoot a lot of skeet and trap, but been years now and would like to get reacquainted with that aspect of shooting…. forgot the station protocols!! Anyway,,,, its a good place to have a lot of fun.

I’ve shot pistols + at Bexar Community Range for many years. The owner and all who work there are truly good people who actively support all the shooting venues. It is a true pleasure to be their customer.

I was there yesterday to sight my scope in on my 270, when I was in the shop, the man asked me If I can put it on paper @ a 100 yards I told him I dont know the scope was put on by academey and bore sighted he told me okay you need two targets one for 25 yards and one for 100 yards I told him thank you cause It did help I zeroed my gun in at 100 yards in 10 shots and then I took 10 pracrice shots, you do have to put your own targets up, and yell cease fire to clear the range but its not that bad, this place is cheap and all the staff and people who looked like regulars were verry friendly, I would recomend this place to anyone, they have spotting skopes if you need one also, I also went to the pistol range and shot about 50 rounds I bought three targets and was there for two hrs and payed 14 bucks, you dont have to pay for gun, you can also bring your own targets if you want but you atleast have to pay for the range fee wich is 11.95 and includes one target. I did skip a few other ranges to go here and couldnt be happier besides a place to shoot south of San Antonio this is the next best range that has it all there skeet shooting looks like what they specalize in, I dont know how much that cost though. I pass by this place everyday and thought it was probally just a hole in the wall but its verry nice. If you are going towrds houston on I -10 take the trainerhale rd exit take a right on trainerhale rd and go down till you see a sign for bexar bowling alley and shooting range take a left and its the first left off that rd. Good Luck and give them a try!

I have been to this range many times and seen it get crowded and when it was not so crowded. I always had a great time and the people are friendly and helpful. You can always count on someone experienced offering helpful advice at the gun range and everyone is very safety concious. Take your time and enjoy the range safely. Be courteous and patient as everyone wants time to shoot. I plan to keep going to the range with friends as it is a great place to shoot!

I agree with all of the positive statements written above about Bexar Communuty Shooting Range. I especially appreciate the attitude of the owners and have never met a customer on the range I didn’t enjoy talking to. To me the fact that the ranges have no “range officer” is a plus. The shooting options make this range very useful in testing and improving shooting skills. The “Sunday Crowds” are something I see as a a plus; but I never use the range at those times. We have used this range many times both with family and friends. To us, this is the best place to shoot. We wish we could shoot our full auto’s here, then we would never go any where else.

heard lots of good things about this range…decided to give them a try after fighting the crowds at Bracken..perhaps a Sunday afternoon is not the time to go as I could barely pass thru the parking lot because of the kids running around….but what was a much bigger concern was the number of men wearing and carrying guns and openly drinking beer…since when do guns and beer mix….not sure I will ever go back, at least not on a weekend

great place to shoot!!!! It’s good to be able to enjoy our hobby with people that are safety minded, and not have to worry about people that lack the training or knowledge of firearms. Too many times before at other ranges we had chose to leave due to “shooters” being unsafe..not the case here. Great people, Great range=great time! Always worth the drive out there(45 min.).

Great place to shoot, rifle, pistol and shotgun! Go there all the time, they let you set your targets up and as long as you are safe, they leave you alone. Family run business that is more family than business. Great for reloading supplies too!

    Great Gun Range!!!
Bracken Gun Range is much closer to my home, but the less expensive rates and freedom to customize some of the distances on both the rifle and pistol is a great way to practice, and make BCSR the best place around.
The staff is super friendly and VERY knowledgeable.

My favorite local range. I live closer to a few others, but I will specifically go out of my way to visit this range because it’s well organized, well maintained, and the staff is friendly and personable. The set up they have is also very open and comfortable, unlike some other ranges where the line ups are crowded and difficult to shoot from (no plywood to block my view of the target, as I’m 6’4″).

I really appreciate their great shooting accommodations. I’ve met a number a good, safety conscious people at this range which speaks volumes about the clientele. This place is well worth the travel time it takes to get there–you won’t regret it!!

Nice facility, very nice people. It seems pretty busy on weekends, although it was relatively quiet when I went one Friday evening.

I’m the rawest of beginners and felt very welcome. Jennifer helped me with a women’s shooting vest & recoil shield- Thank you!

Fields are well tended. At present (as far as I know) they have skeet, trap, 5-stand, & country doubles. They also have a pistol & rifle ranges although I haven’t used them.

    I would recommend to anyone.
